“The Alphabet is inspired by Chloé founder Gaby Aghion’s own creative process for naming her collections and garments. Finding numbers impersonal, she switched to letters, and the alphabet. In 1958, Collection ‘A’ was first, with every item in it given a name beginning with ‘A’. And the alphabet continued…”

“S: FASHION IS ART
M: FASHION CAN NEVER BE ART”
And so it begins.
We are taken through the archives of Schiaparelli and Prada, where we look at their different approaches to their designs, where they both want to dress the women of their time, in their own way-and how they agree on astetics, but may differ on the reason behind. Schiap was inspired by the likes of Salvador Dali, though Miuccia never will look to an artist for inspiration.
It was an interesting approach, where we looked at the similarities and differences of these two Italian designers, and how Miuccia Prada both have been inspired by Schiaparelli throughout her carrer- or you can see it in a way that “great minds think alike”‘. It is also important to be reminded of the genious and creative talent Elsa Shiaparelli was, and how ahead of her time she was, creating timeless and innovating looks, that still feels modern and never dated, even If they were created in the 1930s.
Today we are getting ready for the last day of the FRIEZE ART FAIR NYC. Looking forward to get the FRIEZE ferrry out to Randall’s Island.
